Adrenal Burnout Diet

Relieve stress and adrenal burn out with diet

If you suffer from stress and adrenal burnout, you may find help through an adrenal fatigue diet. Adrenal burnout is a chronic medical condition that can affect many aspects of your health and well-being, including your ability to maintain your current weight or lose weight. Fortunately, by making lifestyle and dietary changes, you can combat and even reverse adrenal burnout.

The ultimate goal of a diet for adrenal burnout is to provide your body with the healthiest foods possible in conjunction with moderate exercise, stress reduction, and plenty of rest so your adrenals have time to heal and begin working properly. When you do this, a healthy body weight will follow.

Stress and anxiety has a direct impact on your metabolism, causes weight gain and sabotages your weight loss efforts. This is something that researchers are well aware of. It is something that many women have experienced after a traumatic time in their life - the sudden weight loss, and then the subsequent steady weight gain. But for many women it's the everyday stress and anxiety that contributes to the constant weight gain and sabotages their weight loss efforts.

To keep it simple, your adrenal glands provide you with crucial hormonal support needed to get through the day with energy. Your adrenal hormones can even change your body shape! If you have been under stress, it is most likely that you have gained weight and experienced a change in your body shape such as tummy fat that won't budge and heavier thighs. You may even have found that your breasts have become larger and are sore and painful.

So what's the concern? Your adrenal glands are important in the long-term maintenance of your hormone levels.

Naturopathic treatment of weight gain caused by hormonal imbalance during stress is successful and has helped many women heal their symptoms and achieve weight loss naturally. The best part is, it's available online!

Adrenal Burnout Diet - How does stress affect cortisol to make you fat?

Stress causes elevated cortisol levels.  When functioning normally, cortisol helps you meet these challenges by converting proteins into energy, releasing glycogen and counteracting inflammation. For a short time, that's okay.

But at sustained high levels, cortisol gradually tears your body down. Sustained high cortisol destroys healthy muscle and contributes to conditions such as heightened menopause, poor fertility, thyroid imbalance and ovarian imbalances such as PCOS, fibroids and endometriosis.

One of cortisol's many functions is that it stimulates the release of glucose, fats and amino acids for energy production. It will also keep your appetite stimulated triggering cravings. In addition, the type of fat that accumulates because of this stress-induced appetite will typically locate itself in the abdominal region of your body.

Stress contributes to weight gain primarily because of an excess secretion of the key stress hormone cortisol, along with a reduced secretion of the key hormone Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA. DHEA is a steroid hormone synthesised from cholesterol and secreted by your adrenal glands.

Stress can also play a role in stimulating your cravings due to elevated cortisol levels.

Cortisol stimulates the release of glucose, potentially contributing to metabolic syndrome & subsequent weight gain. By stimulating your appetite it can leave you craving carbohydrates and sugars. Something you don't need when you are trying to shed kilos as it will certainly sabotage your weight loss efforts.

This rebound effect is often incorrectly labeled as emotional eating. Although some of us do eat for comfort, often the cravings are ravenous & uncontrollable sabotaging your weight loss. If this is happening to you, it could be your hormones!

Stress caused my weight gain by slowing my thyroid, but by balancing my hormones I got better again and lost weight naturally! Read my story

Research also supports high cortisol (hypercortisolism) levels in the bloodstream can have an effect on thyroid function by directly inhibiting the production of TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and also inhibiting the conversion of T4 to T3.

In addition, women can suffer from insomnia during stress and when you are deprived of sleep, cortisol (a hormone commonly released in response to physical or emotional stress) is released at an increased level and stimulates your appetite causing weight gain.

Hormones associated with stress slow your metabolism causing weight gain.

This is why balancing your hormones and boosting your metabolism is the secret to natural weight loss with stress.
