Teenage Health
What's happening to your teen's body?
Those teenage years can be daunting and there is nothing more concerning then wondering if your loved one is on track with their health.
Those transitional years between childhood and adulthood are characterised by many changes. These are not only in physical development, but also in psychological, social and mental development.
For example:
- As teenagers grow their brain requires many essential nutrients in order to attain optimal intelligence
- Bones continue to grow longer and stronger, and teeth continue to develop
- Hair growth occurs, and an increase in hormones and sweat gland activity may lead to acne or pimples
- Changes in height, weight and voice
- Reproductive system and hormonal changes
- Mood changes
So what can you provide your teenager with to support these changes?
Teens need a balanced diet high in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. All of those factors listed above such as learning, skin, hair, mood and energy levels can be affected by nutrition.
My online consultation is a great place to start as we formulate a treatment plan specifically for growing teenagers. It will also include dietary changes and specific vitamins and minerals often lacking in teenage diets, to help teenagers reach their full potential, both in and out of the classroom.
